houseofglitz blog (2)

http://houseofglitz.blogspot.com

Glad to see more posts are being put up on houseofglitz, some awful fashion outfits the celebrities are wearing today. I like the comments underneath each picture, I would say exactly the same. Glad there is a description underneath the pictures I managed to do further research into the pictures and designer clothing they were wearing. Can spend hours reading through this blog.

The fashion world in my eyes

Fashion, to me, is a way of expressing yourself in a way which is challenging and isnt a direct way of saying how you feel. For me, I like the thought of making big garments that are costume styled and have an effect on the person looking at it that makes them look more than once because of its depth and unique qualities about it. i don't want to have to make a full line of clothing that is simple and you just glance at, I am more interested in spending my time making two or three whole garments that are complex but have a a couture feel to it. My main area of interest is steam punk fashion because I like the thought of taking 18th century clothing and giving it a Gothic feel and making it more modern but still with the 18th century style. Also, to me, fashion is a challenge in life which everyone is confronted with, from designing your own fashion collection, to deciding what to wear to go shopping in. Everyone has to think about fashion every day but I feel that I have to think more about it, being a fashion student. To me, fashion is a way to challenge my creative skills and pushing them more and more to hopefully be good enough to take what I know further to university and hopefully to get the job of my dreams: to hopefully design for theater and for T.V. There is a lot of mis conception with fashion about it being all about high street clothing. There is so much more to it than that.

The images that are being posted on this blog are relevant to me as they are fashion related with hints of costume behind them. The illustrations I saw looked expertly done and was very impressed by them. Instead of just posting about clothing, the blogger has also posted accessories that go with the outfits which caught my eye as I am not just interested in fashion but what goes along the side of it and the fact that it is couture like looks very interesting to me. My only problem with this blog, is that the blogger hasnt posted information or a description of most of the images so I can not research further into what they have posted and I was wanting to see what else the designers of the garments had made. The images of the garments are more obscure than the high street clothing you see today and are so well made it looks like it is wearable and I love that!

I found this blog to be a little confusing as I thought it was about fashion but I saw pictures of food and health tips, but after rooting around and eventually finding the buttons to take me to the fashions parts of the blog, I found information on 19th century fashion and costume. I like this blog because it is laid out professionally and looks clean instead of being hap hazard. I also like how the blogger writes their opinion on their images and our opinions relate. I think this blog could help me with my own work. I think that there could be more information on fashion though.

I have had a strong interest in steam punk fashion for a long time so naturally this blog caught my eye and I found the way the pictures are laid out to be interesting and simple. The images have inspired me for work inside of college and for my own personal projects at home for holidays in places such as Whitby for goth weekend. I like how the blogger has put their own comments on the pictures posted and what they say as it isn't too formally written nor is it written in a slang like way so it is easier to read.

I find this blog very interesting as the blogger posts photographs of award ceremonies and festivals with celebrities wearing the latest fashion and styles by designers and has recent news stories about celebrities so has pleanty of information about each style. I like the blogger as they post their own comments and I generally agree with what they are saying about it.  Also, I like that the blogger has put what designer made what oufit so I can look into that designer further.
